Getting Started
Basic information about how sessions work.
What ages are sessions designed for?
Sessions are designed for kids ages 7–11. Step-by-step guidance allows kids to work at their own pace.
How long are sessions?
Most sessions run 60–90 minutes depending on the activity
Are sessions drop-off?
Yes. All sessions are drop-off. Parents are welcome to stay nearby in the SEA Discovery Center or return at pickup time.
Where inside the SEA Discovery Center are sessions held?
Sessions take place inside the waterfront classroom inside the SEA Discovery Center in downtown Poulsbo. Take a right at the octopus statue and follow the waterline until you see our sign.
What happens when kids arrive?
Kids check in, make a name tag, and grab an apron before the session begins. A quiet arrival activity helps everyone settle in before starting the main project.
During Sessions
What kids can expect during a session.
Will kids all make the same project?
Each session focuses on the same activity, but kids are guided through the process rather than following exact steps. Every project turns out a little different.
Do kids need to be artistic or creative?
No. Sessions are designed to be approachable for all experience levels. The focus is on the process of creating rather than artistic skill.
What should kids wear?
Creative sessions can get messy. We recommend clothing kids can comfortably paint or play in.
Are materials provided?
Yes. All materials are provided unless otherwise noted.
Are materials safe?
Yes. Materials are age-appropriate, and guidance is provided throughout each session.
What if my child needs help or gets stuck?
Sessions are guided step by step, and help is available throughout. Kids are encouraged to work at their own pace with no pressure to finish quickly.
